Today’s snapshot features an extremely interesting mosque located in the Western African nation of Mali. Though Mali was once a French territory, this independent nation is now struggling to make its own way in the region, with many residents living in poverty. Despite difficulties, Mali is known to be one of the most stable countries on the continent (both socially and politically) and is home to an ethnically diverse population.
Pictured here is the Great Mosque of Djenné located in Mali which dates back centuries and is made entirely of sun-dried mud. What a unique and interesting structure!
