From Dubai to Los Angeles, and everywhere in between, MSN Travel has recently published a list of the World’s Ten Best Beach Hotels. Though the list featured some tried and true favourites, there were also some surprises on there. Read more to see if you agree!

What makes a good beach resort? For some its the dependable weather. For others, the tanned bodies that are on display. And some are concerned with the cleanliness of the water and beach surrounding the resort. For me, its a combination of many things. For example, as much as I love the Los Angeles beaches of my childhood, there are days in the summertime that are positively gloomy on LA beaches. Think thick layers of fog that fail to burn off throughout the day, despite the best efforts of the sun.
Barcelona’s beaches are nice albeit crowded but perhaps my favourite beaches in the world are in Maui, Hawaii with the perfect combination of beautiful weather, bountiful sealife and clear waters.
