Travelfusion's Social Media Officer, I manage all of our online marketing and presence on Twitter, Facebook, our blog and more. I love my job!

We’ve previously featured some of our favourite spots to picnic around the world, including the best spots in Santa Monica, California and Paris, France.  Today’s spot is right here at home in London and is a bit off the beaten path, but provides great scenery and time to mix with locals.

Running through many of the most interesting parts of London, Regents Canal offers visitors a great place to stroll, take in the sights and also pause for a scenic picnic.

Though the towpath along the canal is narrow at times, and allows only for cycling or pedestrian activity, there are some spots that open up a bit wider and provide benches and ample space for sitting and enjoying the passersby.  Strolling along the path will also allow for great typical “London” sites including some inventive urban art and many of the brightly painted narrow boats that some Londoners call home!

Head to either Mile End or Camden areas to enjoy the most space around the canal for relaxation.  Stopping near Camden will offer you an array of takeaway culinary options from around the world, all for purchase at Camden market.  Or, if you’re like me, grab some food at a local shop and stop near the Angel area to take advantage of the benches and intermittent summer sunshine.
