Ana and Kathryn’s Excellent Adventure

Travelfusion's Social Media Officer, I manage all of our online marketing and presence on Twitter, Facebook, our blog and more. I love my job!
This morning, our Senior Developer Ana and I were lucky enough to be invited to have a glimpse of “the empire,” or in other words, we were invited to participate in a meeting at Google’s headquarters. It almost felt like being a kid at Disneyland walking around the offices, and they really are as great as they are rumored to be.
It was great fun but also so very informative and we learned plenty of things to take back to the Travelfusion team that will help our business and make our site even better than ever.
Here’s a quick photo tour of our adventure. Please excuse the mobile-phone quality photos – not only was I taking all of them with my iPhone, but we felt nerdy and embarrassed to be taking so many pictures, so they were all taken really quickly.
Have any of experienced a day like this? Have you visited a place or met someone from a company you’ve always dreamed about? I’d love to hear your experiences in the comment section.
And now…the photos!
“‘C’ is for Cookie, it’s good enough for me!” We loved this Cookie Monster-inspired Google logo. There were so many fun and interesting adaptations of the logo all around the offices.

Ana is loving the full kitchen on every floor! I was shocked to see the spread of food, drink and snacks available. How is everyone here so fit and healthy?

The relaxation corners with big beanbag chairs and hammocks were pretty great too!

Check out our lunch! So many choices, so little time. Looks like we both sampled a bit of everything.

However, the best part of the day, and the reason we were there was the workshops and information sessions about AdSense and all that we learned from Google staff and employees about optimising our site. There are some exciting new features in these Google tools as well that we were pleased to see first-hand.

All in all, it was a great day, and I can’t wait to share all we learned and start implementing new changes and features to our site!
