The largest city in Scotland and the third-largest in the whole United Kingdom, Glasgow is the focus of our Travel Monday series today.

Inhabited since prehistoric times, Glasgow is now a bustling and busy city with over 2 million people in the greater metropolitan area. Although the city is located quite far north (on the same latitude as Moscow) the weather is surprisingly mild which makes it a great city to visit, especially in the summer months.

There are plenty of things to see and do in the city centre, including an extensive retail and theatre district. Glasgow is well known for having plenty of cultural events year-round which are great ideas for any visit. Of course, Queens Park is a great place for a walk or a picnic if the weather is nice. When I visit, I’m going to be sure to see the cathedral which is supposed to be quite majestic and beautiful.

With a world-class music scene and great nightlife, Glasgow is a good option for a weekend away in the UK for history, fun or just a new scene! In fact, I’m heading there myself and can’t wait to share tips and stories of what I’ve seen and done!
Travel to Glasgow for a long weekend in May to enjoy the city and soak in some Scottish flavour. Flights from London to Glasgow start at £16 return on May 20. Flights from Manchester start at £60 for the same weekend, so a trip to visit the Glaswegians won’t break the budget too much!
